It might not often be thought of as the most lucrative game in the realm of wagering, but keno has huge amounts of keen followers. And it should! It’s a routinely entertaining lotto-like game that’s easy to learn, abundantly available in tons of alternate styles, and one that may yield millions for gamblers who master its heaps of subtle rules. But let’s start with the beginner’s rules for now.
When defining keno to beginners, some betting pros compare it to lotto. This is at least partly apt, in that each game is basically numerical. However, to carry that comparison too far will be to belittle the countless unique traits that make keno so exciting. Unlike bingo, keno gamblers have the freedom to pick the numbers for each and every card.
Keno cards have a grand total of eighty numbers, but the user is granted an extra level of personal responsibility by being able to pick as numerous (or as few) numbers as he or she needs. And it doesn’t take a super genius to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your handpicked numbers with a good old#2 pencil like you used back in the day.
Once you’ve marked your numbers, carry the keno card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The keno pit manager will record those numbers and then give you a receipt. Do not lose this (potentially) lucrative bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your face and would like to help out, without a winning slip with you, you will win precisely $.00 for your efforts.
OK, so there you have strategy #1: always be sure to keep your keno slip. Let us go on to something a tiny bit more complex, shall we?
After you’ve picked your numbers, get yourself into a comfy keno booth and watch the action unfold on the monitor. That’s where the winning numbers are shown for us. If you marked winners, mark your card appropriately. Sake care not to take too much time, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You are required to get back to the keno stand to collect your winnings, as a new drawing will likely start up within not too many minutes.
Strategy number 2: always go back to the keno booth on time!
Since you can’t trust yourself to meet that five-minute deadline each time, you always have the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the self same set of your selected numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the maximum number of keno games (fitting the amount of tickets) is completed, you are then able to get off your numb back side and go get your winnings.
Still another opportunity is referred to as a "stray and play" keno ticket, which generally allows you make number selection for 30 keno games or more. Golly, you can take a Swedish massage and not have to fret about getting back in time to redeem your numbers. Most "stray and play" cards are good for up to a whole year after it’s purchased!
And now you know a handful of needed schemes for winning keno. If you are an experienced player, they may appear to be stupidly obvious. But it won’t hurt to brush up on the basics, and if you are a beginner keno player, every tiny bit of direction will help make your keno games more exciting.
